Brothers

I dedicate this poem to my wonderful little brother.

What was that phrase?
Oh yes, you can't live with them and you can't live without them
In almost every sibling case
The younger brother is definitely not a gem
Annoying, troubling and meddling in your things
They seem to be everywhere that they're not wanted
But the moment there seems to be something wrong with everything
They will face life's problems with you, courageous and undaunted
I LOVE YOU MANU!

A Birthday Present

I wrote the following poem last year as a birthday present for my father.

A Deeper Love
Love is a wondrous thing
Always there, never gone; long lasting
From mother it is open and wide
But from a father it sometimes tries to hide
He is always there when in need
With advice that you should always heed
On the outside he may seem a little strict
And both your thoughts may not always click
But inside, through and through
His love is as wide as the sky blue
And now the time has come
To ask for the roll of a drum
And to say.... APPA WE LOVE YOU!
And that statement, will always be true

Special Poem

This is the poem I gave to President Abdul Kalam when I visited him in India. Hopefully one day, I will be able to fulfill my dream of implementing MahaDarshan in India. MahaDarshan is a program I am developing to develop leadership skills in children and that is what I met President Abdul Kalam about. (Visit www.mahadarshan.blogspot.com for more information. It is my other blog). Anyways, this was the poem I gave to him.

Love from the Heart

Imagine the world a joy filled place
It will happen
Only through three people

Loving Mother, Witty Father, and Wise Guru

Mother helping you to encode
The enigmas of having a congenial soul

Father making you pure, yet keen
Through his love, wit and criticism

Guru bringing you into light from darkness
Or knowledge from ignorance
On how to respect life

All three through love and kindness
Will make people compassionate in the heart

A Silly Poem

I wrote this poem as a silly little poem for the birthday of one of our family friends. I hope it makes you smile like it made her!

Guess What?
What is it? Can you guess?
It’s super fun and it makes a mess!
Well… it does when you’re little!
It’s a day of presents from cards to cake to even a fiddle! It only comes once every 365 days
But when it does, it lights up your face
I hope you enjoy this day to its fullest extent
Because it is quite an event!
Anyways, enough guessing, I’ll tell you what it is
It’s your birthday!… what a hard quiz :)

A Christmas Poem

Christmas is in the air
A time to enjoy, a time to care
Spread the joy and love
With purity as white as a dove
Give many presents from the heart
And in the happiness, you should take part

Quotes

These are not poems but these are a few statements that my brother and I came up with for my father's birthday last year.

“A father’s love is a hidden love, Forever embedded in you.”

“When there is love, the poem title only has to be: My Dad. It says everything.”

As a father you are wonderful
As a husband you are extraordinary
As a friend you are stupendous
And as a person, you are admirable

Rhyming Poem

A Curious Breeze
Whipping through the trees,
With the greatest of ease
The wind sends a shiver,
Up through everything with a liver.
Rustling all the leaves
As it perceives
What the animals do
And why the sky is blue.
Knocking at the door
While trying to explore
The presence of the man
Who came from Japan.

Personification Poem

A Night in the Woods
A night in the woods,
All is silent
A gentle breeze embraces an abandoned cub
Big Pine rustles her dry leaves and says "good night".
Stars twinkle as they tell a bedtime story
And finally a soft drizzle kisses all animals good night.
This is ... a night in the woods.

Limerick

A Poor, Poor Dog

There once was a little dog savoring pie,
But discovered it to be a corpulent fly.
While he fetched his cup,
He promptly threw up
And cluthing his belly asked, "Is it good-bye?"

Rhyming Poem... An edited version of God's Greatest Creation

God's Greatest Creation
God's greatest creation
Was not summer vacation.
It was mother.
No mom is like another.
Moms are a portable abode,
Making you feel at home even on the road.
Helping you encode
Every single crossroad
You may come across in life.
When you are nervous or scared
Letting you know she is there
Always there to help you out
With a question or a doubt
And most of all,
One thing you cannot see with an eyeball
Is when you put your diminutive hand in her palm
You know that she is your one and only mom.

A Metaphor Poem About My Brother!

Annoying, but sweet
A little brother is a flea
Annoying and pesky.
But, a little brother is a diary
Keeping your secrets safe.
Little brothers are life jackets
Amazingly there when you need help.
Most of all, a little brother is a person,
Who you are bonded with for life.

Alliteration Poem

A Lazy, Languid Lemur
A lazy, languid lemur
Loved lacrosse and letters
But, after lending too many lemons,
She got laryngitis.

Looking like a large leopard with lavender,
She tried to tie Tany's turtle
to the theatre.
Then strutting to Syracuse Square,
She savor seven hundred and seventy six stinky salads.

The lemur finally found,
Felicia's Fantastic Flowers (Free Flowers for femailes).
She greedily grabbed her gift,
Ran out the red door,
and up Rustling Road.
And till this day no languid lemur
Has been sighted elsewhere of bed.

Haiku

Mighty Moon glows in
The evening sky and takes away
a young child's fright.

A Biography Poem about ... Mickey Mouse!

A Smile Maker
Mickey
Compassionate, easy-going, humorous and lively
Related to Minnie Mouse
Cares deeply about his lovable dog, Pluto
Who feels energetic most of the time
Who gives teh world around him happiness
Who fears Daisy Duck at times
Who would like to see a smile on everyone's face
Resident of the happiest place on Earth

Now coming up ...!

The next eight poems are the poems I wrote for my sixth grade poetry portfolio. We were assigned a project in which we had to a write a bio poem- it followed a certain format-, haikus, an alliteration poem, a metaphor poem, a rhyming poem and a limerick.

ENJOY!

My Mother

Shining like a bright star,
Always there for me even when she is far.
Full of wisdom and understanding
Always there to help me with anything
When I put my hand into her palm,
I know that she is my one and only MOM!

Do you know how much I love you?

This poem was written as a way for me to ask my mom to forgive me for something I had done. [third grade] This was still a poem that was part of the book of poems I gave to my mother for her birthday.

Do you know how much I love you?
It is longer than the vast sky of beautiful blue.
Way, way taller than Mount Everest.
My love for you is as constant as a bugging pest!
I L O V E Y O U !

God's Greatest Creation

God's greatest creation was mother.
No matter how she acts or looks, she is like no other!
Always there to help you out of a pit,and never once will she let you be hit.
When you are nervous or scared,
She always lets you know that she is there!
That's proof that mother was God's greatest creation!

The Best Mother in the World

You are the best mother,
like no other.
You are the best,
Because I was born in your nest!

Coming up....!

The next few poems were written by me when I was in fourth grade and I presented them to my mother for her birthday.

It's not poe-try... it's poe-do!

Hello, everyone.

President Abdul Kalam once said:
Dream Dream Dream
Dreams leads to thoughts.
Thoughts result in action.

Don't disregard your dreams, instead make them grow and turn them into actions!

Anyways, I have created this blog as a way for me to "publish" my poems and share them with others. I will be posting ones that I have created since I was little when I wrote poems to stop my mom from being mad at me to the one that I gave to President Abdul Kalam a few summers ago.

I hope you enjoy my poems as much as I enjoyed writing them!
